Norma Bessouet Original Oil Painting
Item Details
An original oil painting on canvas by established Argentinian artist Norma Bessouet (born 1947), titled, La Luz Es Demasiado Grande Para Mi Infancia (translated, ‘The light is too great for my childhood’). This radiant image is skillfully painted with magical realism, steeped in Surrealist poetry and symbolism. A young girl with lambent, luminous skin is clothed in a resplendent deep blue hooded cloak with exquisitely detailed floral motif. She gazes slightly frowningly at a dead bird with a single trickle of fresh red blood at its neck that she holds in her hands. This esoteric scene is placed before two window panes that look out into an foggy abyss, stripped tree branches gently rocking through the nebulous vapor. This stunning painting and conversation piece is presented in a beveled wood frame with cast gilt detailing and dark gray finish. A hanging wire and a label with title are attached to the verso. Accompanied by an Arden Gallery (Boston, MA) paper folder containing the catalog for the Norma Bessouet exhibition, Selvaggio and Uccello, complete with color reproductions of the featured paintings and drawings.
