Rare 18th Century Manganese Delft Glazed Stein / Tankard
Item Details
An 18th century delft stein / tankard, polychromed in a rare manganese glaze, resulting in the stippled red-purple ground with a central cartouche panel, of a peacock and foliate decoration, in blue, yellow, green and brown. The pewter covered lid has a cast medallion, depicting a river view of a city, marked ‘MONLIA RIEP TATTSPON XSTEINEFCM, 1756’. The bottom has a black mark ‘M.’
