Original Jack Meanwell Ink and Watercolor Painting
Item Details
An original 1978 ink and watercolor painting on paper by very well-listed Cincinnati artist Jack Meanwell (1919-2005). This painting is signed and dated in watercolor in the lower lower right corner. Wide areas of solid color fade into one another in various vibrant shades across the page. Thin, fluid black lines cut across this soft background created an abstracted tangle of marks. The painting is not framed or matted. An instructor at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for over twenty-five years, Meanwell holds a special place among collected Cincinnati painters and is certainly comparable in many respects to Paul Chidlaw. The pair had their works exhibited together in 2010 at the Mary Ran Gallery, in an exhibit called “Paul Chidlaw and Jack Meanwell – Battle of the Abstract Expressionists.” More information about the artist can be found at the link below.
