A collection of mid-century A.J. WIlkinson Royal Staffordshire dinnerware by Clarice Cliff, in the Harvest pattern. The set includes eight dinner plates, seven saucers, eight bread plates, five berry bowls, one serving bowl, and eight soup bowls. The pattern on each is a pale taupe and ecru transferware images of poppies and wheat with rye and flax stalks, and other autumnal flora. They are marked to the base, ‘Harvest / A J WIlkinson / England / Clarice Cliff / Dinnerware.’ Clarice Cliff (1899 – 1972) was a ceramics decorator for A. J. Wilkinson until she opened a ceramic studio under her own name in 1930. She is recognized as a pioneer in creative ceramic decoration and enjoyed some fame for her artistry during her lifetime.
