A Strands of History 1936-1976 Golden Gate Bridge Original Suspender Cable. This four inch long stretch of cable originally was used to support the Golden Gate Bridge roadway for 40 years. For Authenticity, a bronze medallion, bearing the official seal of the ‘Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District’ is attached and reads; ‘1936-1976 Golden Gate Bridge Original Suspender Cable ’Strands of History’ This piece of cable is listed as number; ‘4269.’ The cable is made from steel that was acid cleaned before dipping in the gold color.

Condition

The wooden cradle the cable sits in has some tape residue on the back of it. The cable has some spots of rust showing through the twisted cable strands. Wear is consistent with age.
