Japanese Type 32 "Otsu" Military Saber

A Japanese Type 32 military saber. This version of the saber is referred to as an ‘Otsu’, a smaller version of the Type 32 ‘Ko’ calvary saber, and was used primarily by Japanese military police and transportation corps members, though other Japanese military personal used it as well during WWII. Saber was produced by the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal and was produced sometime between 1899 to 1936, after which the Tokyo Arsenal discontinued production. Though production was discontinued, use of these sabers continued into WWII. This saber features a wood and steel checkered hilt with a 30.5’ blade and no scabbard present. Blade has a three circle ‘Tokyo Artillery Arsenal’ mark and the serial numbers ‘59958’ stamped on the ricasso.
Condition
Has rust and wear present. No scabbard is present, original leather finger loop is missing.
