Bill Mauldin is a 2-time Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, who more than anyone captured the spirit and tribulations of the ’Average Joe’ in the infantry in the WWII European theater. Mauldin’s compilation of the Willie and Joe cartoons, ‘Up Front,’ has been reprinted several times, again in 1987.
