A signed hardcover copy of Count Luckner the Sea Devil, Lowell Thomas’s biography of the WWI-era German nobleman, naval officer, and commerce raider Felix von Luckner. In his ship Seeadler he travelled from Germany through the Atlantic to the Pacific, raiding Allied shipping and earning his nickname ‘the Sea Devil’. Author Lowell Thomas was an American foreign correspondent during World War I and is most remembered for popularizing the story of T.E. Lawrence, ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, and his efforts to encourage an Arab uprising against the Ottoman Empire. The title page of this volume is signed ‘May you never have to walk the plank! Lowell Thomas’ in pen. Published by Doubleday, Page & Co., 1927.
