An original watercolor painting of a street scene in Florence, Italy, painted by Gertrude F. Sanderson (1872-1937). Sanderson, of Littleton, Massachusetts, was graduate of Boston Art School and Julian Academy in Paris, France, Sanderson painted her landscapes from nature with a repeated theme of a path. Brunelleschi’s Dome rises in the background beyond an arched bridge covered in draping vines and leaves. It is signed to the lower right. This beautifully colored piece is matted in tan and presented behind glass in a simple gilt frame. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging.
Condition
-yellowing around the edges of the matting. brown speckles mark the top left corner of the painting. small debris is stuck between the glass and painting across the surface.
