Morel à Paris Porcelain Clock and Stand

A Morel à Paris porcelain silk suspension clock and stand. The clock has internal brass mechanics and is marked Morel à Paris. The clock has a silk suspension and rings the bell every hour and half hour. The porelain case has been given a mauve and green overall appearance and has gold tone accents. The finial is cream and has a gold tone painting on it and is styled to resemble an acanthus leaf. The green has been painted with gold grape pattern that traces the edge of the porcelain down to a lower panel that has a floral motif in the center. The dial is white porcelain and has been painted with black Roman numerals. The sides of the clock have pink with a panel of green with a scroll pattern down the center. The feet are scrolled and has a lower embellishment of an acanthus leaf. The entire clock sits on a base that has been painted the same colors with the scroll and acanthus leaf feet. Morel (1740-1803) was a watchmaker in Paris, he would later receive his master in the subject in 1779.

Condition

Some finish loss, consistent with age.
