Parian Ware Immaculate Conception Statue

A beautifully rendered Parian ware statue of the Virgin Mary. Parian ware is a type of bisque porcelain that was named for its resemblance to white marble. This statue depicts Mary, head bowed and clothed in simple flowing robes with a head covering, hands crossed at her chest. She is standing on a snake atop a star-studded globe. At the slightly flared base are the words, ‘Immaculee Conception / Rome/ 8 /ƆC Bros’ to the front and ‘Modele Adopte’ to the reverse of the base. It has no mark to the underside.

Condition

One small crack to the rear of the base.
