An original oil on canvas painting perpetrated by the most prolific painter of clowns clad in make up cracked and dry that the world has ever seen, Louis Spiegel. Louis Spiegel (1901 – 1975) is a well listed Ohioan artist most well known for his Clown portraiture. This portrait is especially visceral and features one of the most haggard clowns you’ve ever seen, with all the world’s sadness in his eyes. Inscription to verso reads ‘Painted especially for Robert and Jayne Ferguson,’ which begs the question, ‘H-Bomb Ferguson?’ The painting is presented in an elaborately ornamental framed with gold gilt and red velvet border.

Good-Fair, Some minor wear and chipping to frame, paint loss etc. Large chip to bottom right hand corner.
