MV Muller Volkstedt Dresden Lace "Lady with Music" Figurine
Item Details
A MV Muller-Volkstedt, Ireland Dresden ‘Lady with Music’ Figurine. The figurine is known as a ‘Dresdan Lace’ displays a stamp from circa 1907-1949. There are intricate hand painted details of the face to finger tips with flowers adorning the pink and ivory lace skirt. The markings are a crown over MV Ireland Dresden.
The Volkstedt’s had its exclusive porcelain factory privilege revoked in 1832. This opened the door for smaller porcelain operations such as Anton Muller. He created the crown over MV for Muller and Volkstedt. By the 1930’s he was exporting worldwide.
The Müller – Volkstedt factory hit hard times when it was destroyed during World War II by allied bombings. Johanna Saar, Anton Muller’s niece was able to salvage some of the old master moulds. The Saar Family rebuilt the factory by 1945 and eventually moved the operation to Ireland. Today the factory currently is known as ‘Irish Dresden’ and operates to this present day.
