Steelcase 'Soft Seating' Vintage Armchair and Coffee Table

An impressive floating armchair and matching coffee table from the ‘Soft Seating’ line manufactured by Steelcase beginning in the early 1970s. Generally attributed to noted architect and designer Warren Platner (1919-2006), this vintage furniture features tan textured fiberglass frames with clear acrylic bases. The armchair has four leather cushions. Please see item 15CIN399-002 for matching sofa. (Note that some sources now credit the design of this line to William Andrus.)
Condition
Fiberglass frames on both pieces have numerous areas where textured coating has flaked off. The clear base of chair is somewhat discolored along bottom edge and is scratched and dirty in spots; it has a crack along the height of one corner with a metal repair clip to bottom edge. The cushions of this chair are well worn with plenty of creasing. Brown vinyl edging to inside of chair is scraped along front bottom edge and also along top back edge. Dimensions of armchair, which has a seat height of 19" (to top of cushion at front). Coffee table is 28" square by 15" tall.
