Steelcase 'Soft Seating' Vintage Floating Sofa Warren Platner
Item Details
An impressive floating sofa from the ‘Soft Seating’ line manufactured by Steelcase beginning in the early 1970s. Generally attributed to noted architect and designer Warren Platner (1919-2006), this vintage furniture features a tan textured fiberglass frame, eight leather cushions, and a clear acrylic base. Please see item 15CIN399-003 for matching armchair and coffee table. (Note that some sources now credit the design of this line to William Andrus.)
Condition
Frame has spots where textured coating has flaked off. The clear base is somewhat discolored along bottom edge and is scratched and dirty in spots. The cushions are well worn with plenty of creasing. Brown vinyl edging to inside of sofa has wear consisting of a scrape that is about 3" long, to top back. Please preview for best assessment.

Seat height is 19" (to top of cushion at front of piece, which slopes downwards as it goes back).
