Louis Icart Hand Signed Limited 1928 Edition Etching L' Elan Zest
Item Details
An original etching released in 1928 by Louis Icart, and limited to 21 copies signed by his own hand in pencil as 2/21 and his signature, also in pencil, to the bottom right. In the upper left hand corner is printed in-plate ‘Copyright 1928 by Louis Icart’. This is a beautiful example of French Art Deco era art. Titled L’elan, translated to English as Zest, depicts a lovely young woman in motion of throwing a ball to her hounds as they race eagerly to retrieve it. All the lines are black on white except for the young woman’s peach tint to her cheeks, and red on her lips. This piece flows in a motion combined with youthful energy and grace. The etching and mat have the yellowing as expected with age. There is wear to the gold gilt frame. There is water damage to the back protective paper, which did not penetrate through to the print. The original label from the art dealer remain intact on the verso.
Condition
Consistent with age. Water damage to the verso of frame. Discoloration to paper and mat.
