A signed Aminah Robinson (2/18/40 – 5/22/15) offset lithograph titled ‘Returning from Israel to Columbus Ohio’ (1998). Print marked copyright 1998 Aminah Brenda L. Robinson to lower left. Signed by artist to lower right. Piece depicts vivid colors of the room and artist’s self-portrait wearing her shirt: ‘I Walked My Feet Off In Jerusalem.’ Presented in a black frame behind glass.

Aminah’s work is currently on view at the Columbus Museum of Art in Columbus, OH in a commemorative exhibit of her life’s work and legacy. She was awarded a MacArthur Foundation fellowship in 2004 and has exhibited throughout the United States. Robinson’s artwork is known for narratives of personal journeys, oral histories, traditions, and first-hand observations. It is based on her belief in the African concept of Sankofa, learning from the past in order to move forward. Her work centers on documenting the lives of family, friends, and the community in richly textured layers and stories.
