Lane Mid Century Modern Cedar Chest
Item Details
A Lane Furniture Mid Century Modern cedar chest. This is an unusual model (number 6334-03) manufactured in 1957, of pale solid and mixed woods. The chest has two distinct sections: the cedar chest has a hinged lid which swings upward to open on metal hinges. The chest portion is fully lined in cedar including the underside of the lid. It is marked with the Lane stamp and location, ‘Altavista, VA.’, and stamped inside to base, ‘Aroma-Tite / Pressure Tested’. There are two drawers to one side of the chest, one smaller drawer to the top and one large drawer underneath, with a faux two-drawer font. The handles to the drawers are a silver tone metal ‘x’ shape pull. The drawers are not cedar-lined. The drawers lock and the key is present. The cedar chest has a keyhole for a lock to the front; however, please see condition details regarding the lock on the cedar chest. There are square stretcher bars surrounding the base and the legs are tapered, angled out, and sit on brass tone ferrules.
Condition
- to fair. Wear is consistent with age and use. Please note that due to child safety concerns, EBTH removed the locking mechanism from the cedar chest.
