An original signed landscape watercolor by listed artist Edmund James Fitzgerald (American, 1912-1989), titled ‘New Rochelle—Foot Bridges’. The painting depicts a weathered fishing shack to the left, with foot bridges extending diagonally from the right foreground, and running back to the right background through marsh. In the wooded background, several houses peep through the foliage, with fishing boats docked in front. The watercolor is unframed and signed in pen to the lower right corner. Edmond James Fitzgerald was a notable landscape artist, working both in watercolor and oils, with a perchance for water and mountain landscapes, working through the Pacific Northwest and in varied locations in North America. A marine, landscape and portrait painter as well as combat artist during World War II, Fitzgerald graduated from the California School of Fine Arts where he was a student of Lee Randolph.
