Painted Folk Art Blanket Chest

Item Details

A painted folk art blanket chest, of northern European origin, circa mid 19th century. This lovely chest features decorative hand painting to front and side panels with dark green borders. The chest has a flat hinged top lid with painted name ‘Benesyk Pisti’ to top and rests on scalloped bracketed feet. The interior of chest is in unfinished wood, with an attached lidded till to the left-hand side.

Condition

Wear to finish and some paint loss. Appears hardware has been changed at some point. Painting may have been enhanced or touched up.
