La Verendrye Explorations Two Books

Two books treating the subject of French explorer Pierre Gaultier de Varennes de la Verendrye in the wilds of Canada. The first is entitled ‘La Verendrye: Fur Trader and Explorer,’ by Nellis M. Crouse, a reissue of the 1956 work published by Cornell, here published 1972, Kennikat Press, 247 pp. Bound in green cloth without dust jacket. Next is ‘The Explorations of the La Verendryes in the Northern Plains, 1738-43,’ by G. Hubert Smith, edited by W. Raymond Wood. Published University of Nebraska Press, 1980, 160 pp. Bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine, with plasti-kleer protected dust jacket.

Condition

The Crouse book has a scratch from spine crossing to front board, but otherwise is clean and solid. The Smith book is also clean and solid with only light wear. Both have pencil markings to front flyleaf.
