Gibson Cambria Oak Ice Box

Item Details

A Gibson Cambria oak ice box. The ice box has three raised panel, hinged doors and steel hardware and door clasps. There are three compartments, all lined with metal. The taller right side has four wire mesh shelves. The upper left compartment has a shelf, and a drain is in the lower left compartment. In original, unrestored condition, this ice box was manufactured between 1895 and 1920 by Gibson, which later became the Electrolux company, and later the Frigidaire company. It is marked to the front with a plaque,’ Gibson Cambria’. On the inside left top door is an original instruction tag, showing the ice box will hold ‘a 60 lb. cake of ice’ and has a ‘78 lb. ice capacity’. The front apron is curved and it sits on rolling caster wheels. This item is very heavy.

Condition

- to fair. There is rusting evident to the interior, and the oak top has numerous scratches and water stains to the wood.
