Salvador Dali "Manto" Wood Engraving Divine Comedy
Item Details
A wood engraving after a work titled Manto by Surrealist Salvador Dali (1904-1989). The subject matter comes from The Divine Comedy, and the print depicts a scene from Dante’s hell wherein a disfigured woman strides forward knocking a person in red robes out of balance. It is a dramatic exaggerated depiction of the self absorbed narcissist. She wears a headdress and spreads her arms imperiously never looking where she moves. Her derriere is supported by a crutch because it has grown beyond her control as have other attributes. It is truly visually engaging. It is signed in plate, matted under glass and set in a metal frame. It includes a COA from Park West Galleries, and has a wire for hanging on the back.
