A group of 11 cloth-bound ‘Illinois Historical Collections’ volumes published by The Illinois State Historical Library of Springfield, Illinois. Within this grouping are Volumes I-IV of the Virginia Series, Volumes I-III of the British Series, and Volumes I-III of the French Series. Overall volume numbers are as follows: Volume I, published 1903; Vol. II, 1907; Vol. V, 1909; Vol. VIII, 1912; Vol. X, 1915; Vol. XI, 1916; Vol. XVI, 1921; Vol. XIX, 1926; Vol. XXIII, 1934; Vol. XXVII, 1936; and Vol. XXIX, 1940. These collections contain original source documents (with concurrent translations when in French), with the editor in Vol. XXIX thanking ‘those who have assisted in the long and weary task of making manuscripts of the eighteenth century into a printed volume of the twentieth.’
Condition
Cloth bindings are in fair condition on several of these volumes, with stains, fading and cracked joints. Several are ex-library with usual stamps and markings. Textblocks are intact with little in the way of foxing or toning.
