Royal Doulton "Top 'o the Hill" Figurine

A Royal Doulton Top ’o the Hill figurine, number 1849 in the Royal Doulton Pretty Ladies ‘HN Series’ of figures. The figurine is bone china and depicts a young woman with blonde ringlets in her 19th Century pink dress, blue and violet shawl at her elbows. One hand is tightly holding onto her black and lavender hat while the other holds her voluminous skirts on a windy day. Her crinolines and neck ruffle are blowing in the breeze and she has a serene and pleasant expression. This figure was designed by Leslie Harradine and was issued between 1938 and 1975. It is marked to the base, ‘Made in England, Royal Doulton, England, Bone China, ’Top ’o the Hill’ .’ Adjacent to the maker’s mark is the series number, ‘HN 1849’ and the mark, ‘SJ.’
