A Tony Sarg’s Treasure Book is a first edition. It is a wonderful compilation of pop-ups, moving parts, and dimensional works. The book consists of the ‘Rip Van Winkle,’ ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ and ‘Treasure Island’ tales. It has two, box-like halves that open to allow movable 3-D scenes with text contents in middle. The book’s original box with the bright pictorial paste-down s to the front and back is in good condition. This is a hardcover, children’s classics, mechanical book published by B.F. Jay, New York, 1942, First Edition, quarto, blue cloth spine, hinged pictorial box, both covers with movable insets, illustrated throughout with color plates by Tony Sarg. Each story features movable parts and novelties.

Condition

The book is in good condition for its age and use. Some of the mesh over the ocean needs to be repaired, the opening to move the rocks has bends, the book-box has some wear, the personalization page is used (Bethany Kay from Grandmother L.), Alice has lost her head, the letter has tape,part of the tab where the gentleman doffs his hat is missing, the leader’s balloon face is missing, and some pages have slight tears.
