Baldwin 125th Anniversary Commemorative Grandfather Clock

Item Details

A stunning Baldwin Piano Company mahogany grandfather clock. Possibly one-of-a-kind, manufactured by Howard Miller for Baldwin. This clock is housed in a solid mahogany case with a divided arch pediment holding a carved, flame-shaped finial. There are inlay lyres at either side of the case just under the pediment. It showcases a burled walnut panel with string inlay and an arched beveled glass door. To either side are reeded corner columns with acanthus leaves to the top. Beneath are elongated water leaves. The throat door is beveled glass, as are the sidelights and clockworks door, which has a brass knob handle. It sits on ogee bracket feet. The door is cross-banded and there is dentil moulding at the base of the clock face casing. There is a detail fan inlay at the spandrels. The chapter ring is applied brass in Arabic numerals with Moon phases, and applied brass spandrels. The extraordinary pendulum is twisted brass rods on which a cut brass lyre is applied above an etching of the Baldwin Piano Company factory in Cincinnati, Ohio. There are three solid brass weights. The clockworks are brass; the chimes ring on the hour, half hour and quarter hour. The clock has a plaque stating Baldwin Piano & Organ Co., 422 Wards Corner Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140-8390 and the Serial Number 9000077 and the Model Number CS1250 MAH. Made in U.S.A.

*Without dismantling the reverse of the clock works case, EBTH was unable to determine what type of chime this clock provides. Based on research, Westminster is the likely chime. Three levels are provided.
