A lot of forty-five hardcover field guides by naturalist, ornithologist, and wildlife artist Roger Tory Peterson. Peterson is best known for his birdwatching guide artwork, and many of these volumes focus on birds, with titles including Hawks, Mexican Birds, Eastern Birds’ Nests, and more. However, other volumes cover a wide variety of topics in nature, with titles including Ferns, Animal Tracks, Pacific Shells, and even Stars and Planets. They featured colored leather bound covers, gilded page edges, and copious illustrations by Peterson.
