Antique Iver Johnson 32 S&W Break Top Double Action Revolver

Item Details

An Iver Johnson 32 S&W break top double action revolver. Known as the owl head revolver, this is the small frame five-shot, double action revolver with a single latch release. The serial number, Q 52352 indicates that this is a Model 2 second model run, production started in 1900, and ended in 1908. This pistol is made for firing black powder only. Iver Johnson, located in Fitchburg Massachusettes, started manufacturing weapons in 1871, the company also made bicycles and motorcycles. The break top hammerless revolver gained popularity owing to its size and patented safety feature that revolutionized the carrying of weapons back in the day, where accidental discharge of a dropped weapon was always a significant cause for concern. Iver Johnson designed a bar that rests between the hammer and the pin, and it only retracts when the trigger is completely depressed. Untested.
