Original oil on canvas painting by well established, and thoroughly decorated oil painter Henry Parker

Item Details

An original oil on canvas painting by well established, and thoroughly decorated oil painter Henry Parker. Parker was born in 1938, and has painted the sea as the frightening entity that it frequently becomes, as well as the sunny friend we most typically consider the ocean. This painting is more concerned with the former, however. The painting is entitled ‘Bodie Island Light,’ and was painted in 1982. The artist has illustrated his incredible skill in tackling a formidable subject with remarkable success. The viewer is entreated to a view of a large ship, with smaller life boat in the foreground, in dense fog with an intrepid lighthouse, presumably on Bodie Island, shining the way for ships lost in fog’s mystery. This incredible painting is presented in a wooden frame with gray paint, canvas wrapped border, and nautical rope weaving in and out of holes in the frame. Signature to bottom lef thand corner and back.
