Four Works on Mayan Hieroglyphics and Civilization by Thompson
Item Details
A group of four hardcover editions of the works of J. Eric S. Thompson, each published by the University of Oklahoma Press, Norman. The larger volume is entitled ‘Maya Hieroglyphic Writing,’ text pagination to 347, with black and white illustrations following, dated 1975, fifth printing. A related volume is ‘A Catalog of Maya Hieroglyphs,’ dated 1976 third printing, 458 pp. The remaining two volumes are entitled ‘The Rise and Fall of Maya Civilization,’ second edition fourth printing 1973, 334 pp and ‘Maya History and Religion,’ second printing 1972, 415 pp. Each is cloth bound with original dust jacket.
Condition
Books are in good used vintage condition, with cloth bindings that have been fairly well protected by paper dust jackets. Bindings are solid and intact. Each has pencil markings to flyleaf (and some of these are color pages.) Paper dust jackets on octavo books worn, with some fading and small tears. Larger volume has plastic protector on paper dust jacket.
Dimensions
Size of largest book (medium quarto). The other three are 6.25" wide and 9.25" tall each (octavo).
