Northern Renaissance Lithograph Prints on Board
Item Details
A pair of Northern Renaissance offset lithograph prints on board. Includes Kermesse Flamande (also known as ’The Peasant Dance) after Peter Bruegel the Elder (Dutch, 1525-1569). This panel is a small portion of the larger painting. Bruegel was known for painting scenes of peasant life. The original painting dates to 1567 and is currently housed in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. The other print is Portrait of a Young Girl after Petrus Christus (Dutch, 1410/20 – 1475/76). The original painting dates to 1465-70 and is housed in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin. It is a very important early Northern Renaisssance portrait as it was a major stylistic advancement from Medieval art. Both prints were originally purchased in Brussels at Maison d’Art (labels on the back).
