A fine Wm. Knabe Ampico baby grand piano with a mahogany case in a dark walnut finish; marked ‘9SSS2’ to the interior. Established in Baltimore in 1837, the Wm. Knabe piano company has long been recognized for high quality instruments. Their pianos were the official instrument for the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City for over 40 years, and Francis Scott Key, composer of the Star Spangled Banner, Albert Einstein, and Hans Von Bulow were all devoted fans of the brand.
