An Edgar Allan Poe library and a Johnson & Hardin classic book set each consists of three books. The Edgar Allan Poe books are a New Century Library three volume collection of Poe’s complete works, published by Thomas Nelsons & Sons of New York, 1905. They feature brown leather hard covers, marbled frontispieces, an illustration of Poe or his homes protected by tissue, navy ribbon place markers, and Nelson’s India Paper pages. This three volume set includes the complete works of Poe such as the well known ‘The Murder in the Rue Morgue,’ ‘The Purloined Letter,’ and ‘The Tell-Tale Heart’ as well as lesser known work like ‘The Angel of Odd,’ ‘Diddling,’ and ‘Hop Frog.’ The Johnson & Hardin classic three book set includes Dr. Jekyll, and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Condition
The condition varies. The wear is consistent with the age of the book. Some have worn spines and cover edges, yellowed pages, some tears to pages, and lose covers. The leather edges have begun to deteriorate along the edges and spines.
