A Chinoiserie secretary featuring a bonnet top pediment with side finials, a black painted finish decorated with wonderful scenes depicting people, houses, villages, flowers, rivers, and animals in beautiful gilt detail, and arched cabinet doors which open to reveal a breathtaking red and gold tone interior with pigeonholes, drawers, and correspondence cubbies. The lower section features four half-length and two full-length drawers with bail handles. Maker unknown.
