Alms & Doepke Carved Walnut Dining Table and Six Chairs
Item Details
A vintage walnut dining table and six chairs by Cincinnati department store Alms & Doepke Dry Goods Company. This circa 1930 table is beautifully detailed with a carved table apron, urn shaped baluster legs, and an angled stretcher. The table surface is broken into two panels, is thought to be edged in oak, and is inset with a walnut panel. The table can expand an additional length of 18’ on each end by pulling out the lower leaves. Without the leaves, the table is 59.5’ long, but both leaves extended make the table a maximum of 95.5’ long. The five side chairs and one armchair feature spring cushioned seats upholstered in a dark red fabric. Each chair is designed with an arched and carved crest rail, a back splat accents with a carved triangular design, and an ornate stretcher below.
