"Tjaps" Wall Art from Indonesia
Item Details
A wonderful trio of wall art made from Indonesian ‘tjaps’ (pronounced chops). These copper stamps were once used to imprint wax on the batik fabric which was later dyed, leaving the design intact when the was was removed. The process was extremely labor intensive and has since been improved by modern design techniques. Read more about the tjaps and the process at the link provided.
