Rare Original A. Descubes Watercolor Botanical Drawings

A rare and original watercolor botanical drawing by the mysterious botanical artist A. Descubes, believed to be artist and cartographer by the name Alexandre Descubes (India, circa 1840 – 1915). This particular botanical study of Ranunculus Sceleratus was executed in graphite with watercolor atop. Thorough botanical information is hand written in graphite to the right-hand side, with his signature in ink to the center. The botanical illustration is to the left-hand side featuring the plant in varying stages of it’s life cycle. The paper floats atop linen mat, under glass, in a beveled wood frame. Print information is attached to the verso, as well as a stamped seal by the Imperial Institute Library, Bombay, India. If you are interested in reading more about the mystery of A. Condition
- some discoloration to the paper. Minor surface damage to the finish of frame.
