All three volumes were written by Douglas Southall Freeman and published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in New York. Volume 1 is entitled ’Lee’s Lieutenants: A Study in Command’ with the volume covering Manassas to Malvern Hill, copyright 1942. Volume 2 covers Cedar Mountain to Chancellorsville, copyright 1945. Volume 3 covers Gettysburg to Appomattox, copyright 1944.
Condition
Volumes show typical wear for age. Volume 2 has plastic cover due to dust jacket damage; the other volumes are without dust jackets. Volume 3 has part of the dust jacket glued to the front paste down and the flyleaf. All have bumped corners. Flyleaf is missing in Volume 1. Toning has occurred. An inscription to a previous owner is in Volume 3.
