Belter Style Rosewood Settee
Item Details
A Belter style rosewood settee or ‘fainting couch’ is quite ornate. The crest has a large rose with leaves and grape bunches with leaves carvings. The mid back has a knobbed curves meeting over pierced carvings. The lower back of the settee has grape bunches with leaves carving, The apron has three rose and leaf carving – one to each end and one to the middle. The legs are cabriole with pierced side carvings and knobbed curled feet. It has a tapestry upholstery with a floral print in hues of mauve, pink, and olive on a cream toned background. The back is tufted, each end has curled upholstered arms, and the lower arm has a cylinder style pillow. The frame is rosewood.
Condition
The settee is good and solid; however, there are numerous missing pieces to top crest.
