"Hudson's Bay Company Series" Champlain Society Twelve Volumes 1938-1949

Volumes I through XII of the Hudson’s Bay Company Series published by the Champlain Society, Toronto, Canada from 1938-1949. All have red cloth hardcover bindings with gilt lettering to spines and deckled page edges; most are noted as limited editions of 550 copies (some are numbered and some not – they are not all from the same original set). Titles are as follows: Vol. I, ‘Journal of Occurrences in the Athabasca Department by George Simpson, 1820 and 1821, and Report,’ published 1938; Vol. II, ‘Colin Robertson’s Correspondence Book, September 1817 to September 1822,’ 1939; Vol. III, ‘Minutes of Council Northern Department of Rupert Land, 1821-31,’ 1940; ‘The Letters of John McLoughlin from Fort Vancouver to the Governor and Committee, First Series 1825-38,’ 1941; and Vol. V ‘Minutes of the Hudson’s Bay Company 1671-1674,’ 1942. Next is Vol. VI, ‘The Letters of John McLoughlin from Fort Vancouver to the Governor and Committee, Second Series 1839-44,’ published 1943; Vol. VII, ‘The Letters of John McLoughlin from Fort Vancouver to the Governor and Committee, Third Series 1844-46,’ published 1943; Vol. VIII, ‘Minutes of the Hudson’s Bay Company 1679-1684,’ 1945; Vol. IX, ‘Minutes of the Hudson’s Bay Company 1679-1684 Second Part, 1682-84,’ 1946; and Vol. X, ‘Part of Dispatch from George Simpson Esq. Governor of Ruperts Land to the Governor & Committee of the Hudson’s Bay Company London,’ 1947. In closing, Vol. XI is entitled ‘Copy-Book of Letters Outward 1680-1687’ as stated on title page – spine reads 1679-94- published 1948 and Vol. XII, ‘James Isham’s Observations on Hudsons Bay, 1743’ 1949.

Condition

Cloth bindings scuffed and faded to boards and to spines. Many volumes have cracked hinges; some have bookplates affixed to front pastedown. Pencil markings to front endpapers. Some volumes have back pockets with maps; these have not been verified as to completeness or if they are with the appropriate volume. Please attend preview for best assessment.
