"George Washington: A Biography" in Seven Volumes by Douglas Southall Freeman

The seven-volume set by Douglas Southall Freeman ‘George Washington: A Biography.’ Volumes One through Six were published between the years 1948-1954 by Charles Scribner’s Sons. Volume Seven was published in 1957 and written by John Alexander Carroll and Mary Wells Ashworth after the death of Freeman in June of 1953. Each volume is marked A-4.59[V] on the copyright page, the ‘A’ indicating a Scribner first edition. Features a red fine-textured binding with gilt lettering to spine and gilt emblem to front boards.

Condition

Binding shows some wear, with some scuff marks to boards and rubbing or fading to spine. Volume One has what appear to be water stains to the first few pages before text commences; Volume Six has a warped back board with some discoloration. Some light foxing or edge toning to front and/or back endpapers most volumes. Bindings fairly tight overall.
