Antique Blickensderfer Typewriter

An antique Blackensderfer typewriter with a wooden base and wooden case enclosure. Marked ‘Blackensderfer Stamford, Conn USA 7’ on the model. The Model 7 was first offered in 1897, and became the deluxe version of the basic design. Some were assembled in the United Kingdom, and were sold there as well. The Blickensderfer typewriter was designed by George Canfield Blickensderfer (1850-1917) in 1892. It was originally intended to compete with Remington desk typewriters, but was later known for its portability. This antique model is still in working condition.
