An unframed print titled ‘Nashua’ by James N. Slick. Active in California, Slick (1901-1979) was a frequent painter of winning racehorses. American thoroughbred Nashua is known for winning a match race against the horse who had previously beat him in the 1955 Kentucky Derby, a horse named Swaps. This collotype print depicts the famed horse trotting out on the track. The collotype (a dichromate-based photographic process) is printed on heavy cardstock; information about the horse is detailed under the image.
