A delightful set of Richard Hakluyt’s ‘The Principal Navigations, Voyages, Traffiques & Discoveries of the English Nation,’ originally published 1589-1600, celebrating the Age of Discovery. Here contained in 10 volumes, published 1927, J.M. Dent and Sons Limited, London & Toronto. Handsomely bound in a light blue cloth with gilt ship to front boards and noted on spine as simply ’Hakluyt’s Voyages.’ Includes black and white or sepia illustrations taken from prints and drawings as well as facsimile pages of original source documents. Introduction by John Masefield. Volumes IX and X also contain ‘The Voyages Traffiques & Discoveries of Foreign Voyagers’ with an introduction by Ernest Rhys.
Condition
Light shelf wear considering age. Light pencil marks front end paper some volumes. Binding tight overall. Volume IX has some discoloration or mark to front board.
