Li Shih-ta "Lotus" Reproduction Screen Print
Item Details
A silk screen reproduction of the original Ming dynasty hanging scroll titled Lotus by artist Li Shih-ta (Chinese, 1549-1621). The reproduction print depicts a lotus flower with running blue and black splotches along the center. To the right is an inscription which reads translated ‘On a summer’s day in 1606, I saw two lotus flowers blooming on one stalk in a mountain pond at Ciu-chih Hsien-sheng’s residence. Not only their forms and colors were very delightful but the flowering indicated some good omen. I am no flower paint; nonetheless. I was so impressed that I make myself bold to paint the flowers’. Signed to print. This has an olive green silk border and set in a gold gilt bamboo carved wood and glass plated frame. To the top is an attached gold metal openwork medallion.

- good to fair. Creases to the print.
