Reproduction Mt. Vernon Hepplewhite Style Inlaid Sideboard
Item Details
A fine inlaid mahogany sideboard, which replicates an original ordered by George Washington for Mt. Vernon, from Philadelphia cabinetmaker John Aitken. This example is labeled inside a drawer, ‘Replica of original piece owned by George Washington of Mt. Vernon and built in 1932 during his bicentennial celebration by Mersman Bros. Corp., Celina, Ohio’. The serpentine, ribbon-grained mahogany top is over a center drawer and four cabinet doors, all with banded and string inlay. The facade is punctuated by four front legs, having string inlay and double inlaid oval paterae. See items: 15CIN189-244 through 247, for related pieces.

- has been professionally refinished with hand-rubbed surface. Some variation in color, to edges around front drawer framing.
