Van Hoot Miniature Oil Painting of Violin
Item Details
A miniature oil painting of violin by J. Van Hoot (Dutch, 1900 -1963). Thought to be mid-century, this painting on board depicts a still life of violin, candlestick and sheet music. Painting is signed on the lower right as Van Hoot. Van Hoot was a prolific painter, and by the age of two was producing six paintings a day. He studied in the Florence Academy of Art and completed the six year art program in eighteen days. He developed a period of wanderlust and painted landscapes, but returned to his still life painting. Art is mounted in a painted gold tone wood frame, mounted 1974. Art is possibly a reproduction or Van Hoot early work.
