A Gregory Hudson Gorby, polychrome wood sculpture, titled Unfinished Nude. This last piece of art was in progress at the time of his unexpected death; the arms and part of the right ear are unformed. Born in Los Angeles in 1933, Gregory studied at Escole des Belles Artes in Florence, Italy and the Academie de beaux in Paris, France. After returning to America, he continued to pursue his passion of art. His paintings and sculptures can be found in many private and public collections around the world. Most of his work was sold from his private New York City studio in the 1960s and 1970s. Twenty-one of his pieces reside with the R.H. Lowe Contemporary Art Gallery in Chicago. A partial list of the museums that acquired his sculptures while he was living in Cincinnati during 1989-1998 includes Miami University of Ohio, Museum at Oxford, Midwest Museum of Art, Sheldon Swope Museum, Yeiser Art Museum, University Hospital of Cleveland, and Bell Telephone Corporate Collection. Private collectors of his work include Angela Lansbury, Michael Ovitz, Yul Brynner Estate, Marty Cooper and Peter Matisse.
