A wonderful original oil by listed artist Clifford Beck, featuring Native American warriors dancing. One warrior is prominently in the foreground and is very distinct and bright; however, the second warrior appears to be somewhat covered by the smoke of the fire that is suggested by the reddish flare in the upper right. The painting is artist signed in oil to the lower center. A copyright mark in oil is to the left of the signature. It is framed in a silver toned metal frame.
Navajo Artist Clifford Beck (1946-1995) of Scottsdale Arizona, was well known for his magnificent gestural paintings of Native Americans; he has had works exhibited nationally at the Smithsonian Institute, the Heard Museum, the museum of Northern Arizona, and has been featured in Southwest Art magazine and other publications. In a biography from the Southwest Graphics Collection, he was quoted as saying ’ Each face reveals a story…I analyze faces like a historian analyzes the details of mankind’s written history.’
